bulletDay 3: Manyara/Ngorongoro Crater
A game drive is scheduled in the morning before continuing to the Ngorongoro Crater. Long having exhausted its fiery power, Ngorongoro is a true wonder of the natural world and famous for its sunken caldera formed over a million years ago. It is also the world's second largest, with an inner floor area covering over 100 square miles, 2000 feet below the rim, and representing a conservation area inhabited in harmony by indigenous Masai, their livestock, as well as a startling variety of plant, animal (home to all the Big-Five) and birdlife species. It is therefore no wonder that Ngorongoro, with such a unique eco-system, is frequently described as the Garden of Eden or the "Eighth Wonder of the World". Close to the Crater is the Olduvai Gorge famous for the primeval discoveries made here of the Zinjanthropus Boisei (early man), by Dr Mary Leaky. The Serena Lodge here has been designed on a prehistoric theme.

Ngorongoro Serena

Constructed into the crater rim of this Caldera, the material used is indigenous stone, with the walls and terraces skillfully set to match the existing contours of the site and is quite invisible from the Crater floor. The design also allows an unhindered view of the crater and the tropical forest around the lodge.

Game to be seen may include: Black Rhino, Hyena, Elephant, Baboon, Lion

bulletDay 5: Ngorongoro Crater/Serengeti
After breakfast, depart for the Serengeti, where you will be staying at the Serengeti Serena Lodge. Here in the heart of Central Serengeti, and using local material, Serena have constructed a lodge of rugged, rustic stone walled design with an African theme. It is simple in style, yet exotic in content with traditional skills of woodcarving, bead making and pottery used practically and decoratively throughout the lodge. Composed of a cluster of elegantly thatched circular-domed huts set out as a village on a hill top, the location offers a panoramic view of the Serengeti Plains below. An afternoon game viewing drive is planned today.

bulletDay 6: Serengeti
A long game drive is scheduled today in this premier wildlife conservation area, humbling in the enormity-14,700 square kilometers of rolling Serengeti grasslands studded with wildlife for as far as the eye can see. The timeless serenity in the magnificent Savannah plains is periodically disrupted when a predator is on a hunt or there are territorial tussles. However, a couple of times a year there seems almost disciplined chaos when the serenity is shattered with the occurrence of a massive wave of movement; where a combination of millions of wildebeest, gazelle, zebra and other game embark on a spectacular 'migration' in search of fresher grazing grounds oblivious to the hazards in store for them- predators from the black manned lion to the jackal. There is danger in store also in the rivers the game will be crossing- the tide and crocodile. The acronym, 'survival of the fittest' is most appropriate and ensures the genetic strength of the species.

Game to be seen may include: Cheetah, Leopard, Zebra, Giraffe, Crocodile, Hartebeest
